In October, the biggest women's tennis event outside the grass court season in the UK returned to the wonderful Shrewsbury.
The atmosphere of a tournament is often lead by the core group that run the operations. This is certainly true of Shrewsbury but what makes it more special is the fact that everyone follows in suit. The Shrewsbury Club, the LTA staff and the wider public in Shropshire are so welcoming to all involved.
I have to give a monumental shout out to Abigail Johnson who invited me back to Shrewsbury, following my first time commentating 12 months ago. Abigail is such a professional in everything she does and I am so appreciative of her guidance. There is no better role model than her when it comes down to hard work, tennis knowledge and commentary technique!
I am still very much honing my craft on TV commentary, but I am enjoying the challenge (it really is not easy!). Something that is sticking out to me is making sure I am keeping my own style while taking good traits from professionals in the business.
I absolutely loved my first time on radio commentary for Shropshire Live on finals day. It was even more special given the fact that I was calling Sonay Kartal's title winning match. Very cool to see her excel in the pro ranks from where we all were at Pav and Ave Tennis Club only a handful of years ago!
Thank you so much to all the team at the W100 Shrewsbury.
